Often times people are misinformed about travel agents and what exactly they do. To be honest, I wasn’t aware of the benefits until I became one myself!
1) Using a Travel Agent is FREE. You aren’t hallucinating, I said free! It costs you the same amount whether you book through a travel agent or you book directly through Disney. So why wouldn’t you use a travel agent?! Which brings us to our next reason..
2) Expertise. Most travel agents specializing in Disney have been to Disney multiple times and booked so many Disney vacations that they could do it blindfolded and with their hands tied behind their backs. There are several components to booking a Disney trip such as transportation, choosing between several hotels, multiple ticket options, and dining plans. Your travel agent will be able to assist you in booking the trip that is best for your family! Travel agents also have a few tricks up their sleeves to help save you time and money, but you’ll have to book a trip with one to find out what they are!
3) Personalized Service. When you work with a travel agent, they get to know you and your family and help you to plan your trip based on your specific needs.
4) Your Travel Agent can answer all of your questions. When you book your trip through a travel agent, they are available to answer all of your questions! When you book your trip directly through Disney, you are on your own to figure out all the details.
5) Travel Agents do all the planning, so you don’t have to! Ideally, to get the best reservations and FastPasses, you would have to be online at 7am on the days they become available to snag them before someone else does. When you book your trip with a travel agent, they handle all the details, so you don’t have to! They’ll be up with their Starbucks making magic happen while you catch some extra ZzZs!
6) Sales and Promotions. Travel agents keep their eyes peeled for any sales and promotions Disney may offer. If Disney releases a sale or promotion after you’ve booked, your travel agent will call Disney and wait on hold to apply the promotion to your reservation (if applicatble). Sometimes the wait is 3+ hours! Had you booked on your own, you may not even know these promotions were available and wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the savings!
7) Your Travel Agent is available in case things go wrong. Let’s face it, sometimes things don’t always go according to plan. Your travel agent will be your liaison and wait on hold or do whatever necessary to iron things out and get your trip back on track.
